Automate Product Information Management with New Item and Variation Actions in Flow Studio

Item data does not maintain itself. Every new category, tagging logic or manufacturer change sends your team back into the catalogue to edit items and variations by hand. Flow Studio now lets you automate these changes.

You define a trigger, narrow the scope with filters and add an action. The flow runs in the background, and your team stops editing records one by one.

Start flows the moment items and variations are created

New items often need the same steps: set tags, assign a shipping profile, maintain the manufacturer. The new triggers and filters start these steps automatically, and only for the records you target.

  • "Item created" trigger: Starts a flow as soon as a new item is created.
  • "Variation created" trigger: Starts a flow as soon as a new variation is created.
  • Filters for items and variations: Limit every flow to defined items and variations, so only the right records change.

Maintain item data through flows and connect it with order processes

Besides triggers and filters, Flow Studio now includes actions for items and variations. You change core master data through a flow instead of editing records individually. That saves time and prevents inconsistencies between items. You combine item and order actions in a single flow, so separate automations are no longer needed.

  • Change labels and tags: Assign a label or tag to items or variations that match your filter. Combine this with order actions in one flow, for example for variations on an incoming Amazon order, by using the Adapter.
  • Change categories: Move selected items into a newly created category.
  • Change shipping profiles: Assign the right shipping profile to filtered items.
  • Change manufacturers: Replace the manufacturer on all affected items in one run, for example after a procurement change.

Build your first item flow now

The new triggers, filters and actions now appear in Flow Studio automatically. No additional setup required. Existing flows keep running unchanged.

Start with a task you repeat by hand today. Open Flow Studio, select an item or variation trigger, add a filter and choose your action. Find an overview of the new actions in the manual.
